We Research Menstrual Health

Very little data was available on the subject of menstrual health in Myanmar when Pan Ka Lay started. The first several months of Pan Ka Lay were therefore spent conducting research and creating, with the support of partners and donors, a body of data and insights on which we base evrey decision we take.

This includes:

  • 36 in-depth individual interviews with girls, young men and young women in Yangon
  • 22 focus groups with girls, mother of girls, young men and young women, in Yangon, rural Ayeyarwady and rural Bago
  • Ethnographic studies in rural Shan and Ayeyarwady
  • Quantitative survey of young women’s attitudes to menstruation in Yangon.
